Swampwater Tribune

September 2008

Welcome to our little newsletter.  We will attempt to inform our shooters of  the changes made by the committee, happenings and shooting events around the state.

Check back regularly.  If you have something to contribute or have an event you would like posted - let Sassy Teton Lady know.

As you have noticed the Pistoleros have a new Committee.

You can get a list of the Committee Members on the Committee Member page of this website.  Please feel free to contact any of us with any concerns or suggestions good, bad or otherwise. Your comments or suggestions will be addressed.

Any change that has been made has been discussed at length at our meetings.

Some changes:

  • Juniors (16 and under) shoot monthly matches for free
  • The "Pistoleros" category has been changed in the over all calculation.  The top 10 of each match are placed in the Pistolero category based on final standings.  The top 15 are awarded points with an extra point for a clean match. This not only affects the Pistoleros but the other shooters in their selected category.  You can keep up to date on the Pistolero standings on the Match Results page.
  • We are now giving a Overall Top Gun, Top Lady, Top Junior Boy and Top Junior Girl trophies

Annual Country Jamboree in Barberville

Nov. 1st and 2nd

Each fall the Pioneer Settlement, in Barberville, Fl., has their annual country jamboree. My friend is the Director of facility. It is two days of artists, food, music, story tellers, demonstrations, Indian camps, tractors, blacksmiths, coopers, and all things of the 19th century.

The settlement explores and maintains a living history program through which thousands of students experience each year. It is a real blast and could be a lot of fun.

If any SASS members would like to promote our passion to the general public we can have a spot complete with Florida Steers. We can set up a camp and show off all our gear and generate a buzz that promotes gun safety, gun education, family fun and a bit of the game.

The only caveat is no live rounds on site. Lodging and details can be discussed later, I live 2 miles from the settlement, we don't have to sleep there, unless you want to.

Here's a chance to just not play cowboy, but live it, educate others.

Sincerely,

Marshal John B. Stetson
