Ides of March

Time is almost here for our Annual Match.  We filled up and are on a waiting list, so if you didn't sign up and would like to shoot, shoot me an email to be placed on a waiting list. We have already started a list.

If you have signed up and find it necessary to cancel, please do so ASAP so that we can offer your spot to someone on the waiting list.

Several vendors will be on hand.  The following vendors have confirmed that they will be coming.

Tandy Leather Factory (Orlando)

Custom Made Ear Plugs

Bradway's Engraving Studio

Buffalo Western Wear

Buffalo Bill's Shooting Store

Andy with Photo Boutique will be on hand again this year taking photos.  After the match he will be posting them on his website for viewing and ordering.  This year he will be setting up to take portrait type pictures for those that are interested in a posed photo.

Don't forget we will be breaking for lunch and Midge's Lunch Wagon will be there.  New this year, the 4-H Club will be grilling hotdogs and will have baked goods along with ice tea.

Speaking of the 4-H Club, they will also be there lending a hand and helping with the range activities of the day.

We hope most of you will be there on Friday for the side matches.  Awards will be presented at the BBQ Saturday to the top Cowboy, Cowgirl, Junior Cowboy and Junior Cowgirl for each side match.

Annual and Out of Town Match Results

2009 Last Stand - SASS State of Florida Championship

Congratulations go out to all the Florida State Category Champions and especially to our overall champions

Florida Champion Men - Santa Fe River Stan

Florida Champion Ladies - Momma Missalot

It was an exciting and fast paced match.  With proof that no target is too big to miss. The stages were well written; some with challenging sequencing and some with lots of movement. The stage designs and props were excellent.  From snow on the ground, to white buffalo's, to riding down the river on a raft. The Last Stand Committee out did themselves this year. Many vendors were there with lots of goods and services.

Gold Coast Gunfight

Hosted by Gold Coast Gunslingers, Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Congratulations to Kid Romeo for being the overall match winner.

1st Place Classic Cowboy - Deadwood Woody

3rd Place Classic Cowboy - Chance Ramsey

1st Place Ladies Senior - Chancey Lady

3rd Place Ladies Senior - Naughty Juliett

1st Place Modern - Dynamite Deed

1st Place Classic Cowgirl - Sassy Teton Lady

The match was based on the movie "Open Range". They have a few challenges that many of the other ranges don't have.  GCGS shoots on a common firing line, so they have to be creative in props and targets to keep it interesting for the shooters and guests.  You have horses to ride, doors and windows to knock down and buckboards to shoot from.  Targets - did we say targets.  This club has a target rich environment.  On a monthly shoot they have been known to put out 70+ targets for 5 stages.

Has anyone been to an annual or away match they would like to write about.  Send it to me.

PISTOLEROS

The Top Pistolero honors will be awarded at the Ides of March BBQ dinner.

Upcoming Annual Matches

April 19-2008 - Miakka Misfits  - Reckoning at Turtle Flats

April 12, 2009 - Florida Sunshine Games - Orlando

May 21 - 24, 2009 - Shoot Out at Mule Camp, SASS Southeast Regional

Again - if you have never gone away to a match - you are really missing a lot of fun, excitement and an excellent opportunity to meet cowboys and cowgirls friends.  I find it amazing that at an away match you never meet a stranger.  Give it a try, you might get hooked.

COWFORD REGULATORS

Don't forget that Cowford Regulators are now shooting on the fourth Saturday of the month. Make sure you mark your calendars.

News from R & R

We are sad to announce the closing of the Resurrection Rangers club effective immediately.  The host gun club raised the shooting rates more than the club and shooters were willing to pay. We will miss having this venue on the schedule.  Dixie and TNT would like to thank the shooters and members for their support and friendship over the last 3 years.

Did you check our CLASSIFIEDS?

Check it out on the web.

Have something you would like listed? Send me (Sassy Teton Lady) the info with a picture (if you have one) and I will get it listed.  We do ask that it be cowboy related.  If you are not sure, send it and ask.
